Over, then under
- a lulluby for my precious threads -
Over, then under honors a gathering of threads. A choreography of warp and weft
to reimagine dancewear using natural materials. My handwoven pieces are
both an object to be danced with, as well as a garment to be worn.
I use the body as a tool to animate cloth and create cloth
to reciprocally activate the body. The relationality
of human connection is what I think about
when I weave, dye, sew, wear, share
and perform;
each body a thread, weaving over, then under one another.
I ask the threads to identify softness under the tension of a collaborative movement.
